Just keep your eyes on the one with the big teeth...

We took Jack to see a new exhibit at Zilker Botanic Garden last week called Dinoland. It consists of a few dozen life-size replicas of dinosaurs placed out in the wooded area of our botanic garden. To an adult it is well-executed, not overdone and enjoyable.

To a 4 year old it is “Wow!” “Oh my gosh!” “Look, look, look, look…”

I am trying to imagine what it must be like to be 4 years old and see this exhibit. I mean, I’m not sure Jack even knows that dinosaurs are extinct. So to go to an exhibit where there are life-size dinos was probably about as close to the edge as you can come. He knew they were not real. But in a four year old mind…that dino might wake up any moment and come running towards you.

And these dinos even had their little beady eyes that might blink at any second. Like that long shot at the end of the movie where the person is dead and the camera shot stays on them and you wait, wait for it. And their eyes open! Aaaaaaagh!
