A season of helping

We have had our challenges with Jack over the last few months, especially as he exercises the independence of a 4 year old on making decisions. The old way of doing things doesn't seem to work quite as well anymore. But we have found one thing that makes our days flow smoother, letting Jack help.

Jack loves to help and do jobs. Setting the table, putting up Christmas decorations, getting a bib for little sister, choosing a cd to play at night before bedtime. Any sort of chore that allows him to show responsibility.

So when John began to remodel our master bathroom, it was a perfect project for father-son bonding. We give Jack his ear protection and let him go in and help his dad. He loves to explain to me later everything they did and take me in there to show me.

Here he is operating the shop-vac to vacuum up nails as John is ripping out the sheet rock.

And you just can't beat his hourly wage. Some crackers and cheese at the end of the workday and he is paid up.
