Effective Tuesday, Texas laws have been amended to raise the age and height requirements of children required to use a booster chair in the car. The changes require a child under 8 years old ride in a safety seat, unless the child is taller that 4 feet 9 inches.
Under the original law, a child 5 years old or more than 36 inches could ride without the safety seat.
